Like most portable media players, the Playstation Portable, which is also called PSP, can play video in the MP4 MPEG format. And YouTube broadcasts their videos mainly in the FLV video format. If you have uploaded a lot of videos to YouTube and wanted to download them again to play on your PSP, there are three ways to do so. It is important to only save your own YouTube videos to the MP4 format.

The first way is you can change the URL of the YouTube video. One of the easiest methods to download and achieve your YouTube videos to MP4 is by simply changing the URL in your brower’s address bar. This is the simplest way of saving the YouTube video to MP4 up to now. Web services such as 3ouTube or PwnYouTube provide download links by adding “pwn” or “3″ to the domain. For example, if the video is located at www.YouTube.com/watch=1234, by changing the URL to www.3outube.com/watch1234 or www.PWNyoutube.com/watch=1234, you will be directed to different download options including the MP4 format.

Using a desktop application is also a good method. There are various applications for both Mac and Windows that permit the users to browse YouTube videos without actually visiting the websites. Locate the desired video and select the option to download the video with the application. Choose your desired video output and save it to your desktop. This option is helpful for users to avoid the slow and crash-prone Flash-laden websites.

Another way is to use a browser extension. Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome, two of the most popular web browser, permit users to create extensions or add-ons to extend the native capabilities of the browser. There is a number of extensions that provide ways to download YouTube vides to your desktop. After installing these extensions, you can visit the desired YouTube webpage and click on the newly present “Download” link. This is only useful if you currently use FireFox or Chrome while Safari and Internet Explorer do not offer this kind of extensions.
